Excitement Continues As Central States Challenge Rolls Through Quincy

Central States Challenge (SCSC) took competitors to the historic TNT Kartways in West Quincy, MO on June 27-28. Nearly 80 entries gathered along the Mississippi River at the 4/10-mile course that has seen many prestigious names in the sport of karting take on the challenging circuit. The weather was simple hot - with temperatures above 100 degrees, matching the racing action on the track.

Entering the Rounds 10, 11 and 12 tripleheader, the talented young race pilot is fourth in the championship fight, having visited victory lane twice in his rookie European race campaign.

pkc_logo.jpgBeautiful weather welcomed the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge South program to the Santa Maria Karting Association facility on June 27 for the sixth round of the 2009 championship. The karting circuit, located on the grounds of the city’s airport, provided great racing around the 7/10-mile circuit known as the ‘National K layout’. The event marked the return of former PKC regulars to the top of the podium – as Nick Firestone showed the way the entire day in the G1 division, while Connor De Phillippi took the win in S1.

Barlow bounces back from pre-final clash to take maiden Formula Kart Stars victory 

Jack Barlow survived a fraught weekend (27/28 June) to maintain his push for the Formula Kart Stars crown. The fourth round of the series visited the superb Rowrah circuit and the Minimax points-leader was hoping that a change of chassis would maintain his advantage over his rivals.
 

“We’re leading the championship at the moment and wanted to make sure that we did everything possible to maintain that advantage.  I tested a Fernando Alonso kart
from Dan Holland Racing and it was wicked, so we bought one and took it to Rowrah and after timed qualifying. It definitely looked like we’d made the right choice.”

jonathan_legris.jpgJonathan Legris came up trumps in race 2 of the European f3 Open series held at Spa-Francorchamps on the weekend.

The extremely popular race victory turned out to be Jonathan's first in the championship, as he made the step into the new car at only the last round at Jarama. With teething troubles at Jarama, testing saw Jonathan at the sharp end in 2nd and the Spa weekend looked set to be the turning point for the championship.

Head gasket failure ends Tom Cave’s class domination in Poland

tcr_poland__3.jpgThe second leg of this weekend’s Rally Poland came to an early end for Tom Cave, when the head gasket on his Group N Ford Fiesta ST failed and he and co-driver Craig Parry were forced to retire from the leg. This was a particularly bitter blow, since Cave’s lead of the N3 class had grown to more than four minutes by the start of the third stage of the day as the 17 year-old settled into the Polish stages.
