ORAN PARK GIVES DEFENDING CHAMPION TAKES FIRST WIN OF 2006
Bryce Washington has fired his first real shots in the defense of his Speed Energy Drink Australian GT Championship crown, winning today’s third round of the year at Oran Park Raceway in New South Wales.
In front of a strong crowd, the South Australian driver scored his first race victories of the season in his Adrad Racing Porsche GT3 Cup Car en route to the overall success, the 22-year-old becoming the third different round winner from three rounds this year.
The success is also the first for Porsche this season, meaning the German marque joins Ferrari and Dodge Viper as 2006 round winners.
This weekend’s result also means that the margin between championship leader Greg Crick (Viper GTS ACR) and Washington has been slashed to just 20 points as the series heads to its halfway point at Phillip Island in two weeks time.
Washington used consistent leading pace to win two races today, ceding the third to Crick and David Wall (Kerrick Porsche GT3 RSR) to assure himself of the round win.
