Mondello Park near Naas, Ireland's premier motor racing venue, is all set for its annual BTCC meeting. After Sunday's opening rounds at Brands Hatch in Kent,

Martyn and the team left the circuit on a high. “We had an absolute nightmare with the gear box in the second free practice and didn’t manage to get the car ready to qualifying, but after a lot of head scratching and hard work we got on the grid for the first race and finished 10th, which scored us points. I knew throughout that race I could go faster and made a few small changes and though the gear box let go in race 2 we were starting to make strong progress. By race 3 the car for first time felt like my car and I could really start to push until again I lost gear’s. So though we are disappointed that we only scored 4 points in the Independent Championship we are pleased with the progress we made and I’m really looking forward to Mondello for the challenge of a new circuit and feel we are now getting to package together to move forward.” (Martyn Bell)

The team have a new higher spec gear box to go in the car for Mondello and have made significant steps forward in set-up. “Our problem is we simply had no real testing before the season which was down to the weather. We went to Donnington and in rained all day, we went to Croft and we were praying for rain because it was snowing! So before the first meeting we had had one half day’s testing which in anyone’s book is just not enough. So in the circumstances I think Martyn drove brilliantly.” (Richard Merrifield Media Director MBR)

“The lads were up to 2am fixing the gear box so I’m going to give everything I;ve got at Mondello as pay back, they deserved more for the effort and now we know which way to go with the car they’ll get it”. (Martyn Bell)
