VX Racing, Silverstone: Race Two Bulletin PDF Print E-mail
Phenomenal car control from Vauxhall's Fabrizio Giovanardi earned him a seventh podium finish in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this afternoon.

The Italian finished third from seventh on the grid, despite being knocked down to 12th in a hectic first lap.

Gavin Smith drove a courageous race with two broken ribs to finish fourth from 11th on the grid.

Tom Chilton was caught in the lap one chaos, retiring after contact with a SEAT.

The race was red-flagged after a heavy accident involving Mike Jordan, James Thompson and Jason Plato. It was restarted with a race distance of 14 laps.

Smith will start the final round of the BTCC year from sixth on the grid and Giovanardi from seventh. Chilton will start from the back of the grid.

Race three will begin at 17:15.

Mike Nicholson, VX Racing Operations Manager: "That was a great race - typical end of season action where a few old scores are settled!

"I think Fabrizio has been one of the most entertaining drivers in the championship this year. He's always given 100% and his experience has been instrumental in both our race wins.

"It's just a shame that the car, the team and the drivers are all coming together at the end of the season."

Fabrizio Giovanardi: "I didn't enjoy that ... it was too close to a win! It's very frustrating. I was at the maximum power. I couldn't have gone any quicker."
