PLATO WINS SHORTENED THIRD RACE
Jason Plato has won the third of today’s three Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship rounds at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent.
Plato (Oxford), driving a SEAT Leon, overtook Rob Collard’s Team RAC MG and Tom Chilton’s Vauxhall Astra to cruise to victory.
But officials ended the race four laps early after reigning Champion Matt Neal (Droitwich) crashed his Team Halfords Honda after a collision with Collard’s car as they fought for second place.
Collard (Hook, Hants) has provisionally been classified second and his team-mate Colin Turkington (Portadown) third.
Provisionally, SEAT’s James Thompson (Harrogate), who won the day’s first two races, leaves Brands Hatch as the championship leader on 37 points, followed by Turkington 30, Chilton 28, Plato 23, Collard 21 and Neal 20.
