Tom Chilton scored his fifth podium of the year for Vauxhall this morning in the first Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the day.
The 21-year-old launched himself from fifth on the grid to third by the second corner. He then battled with Colin Turkington for the entire 22 laps.
Fabrizio Giovanardi finished seventh and Gavin Smith 11th.
Reigning champion, Matt Neal, finished fourth to tie up the BTCC drivers title.
Round 29 will start at 13:00.
John Morton, VX Racing Technical Director: "That was the result we were expecting. We were disappointed with qualifying because we thought we were doing well but this time we knew we had pretty good race pace. Tom fought hard and Fabrizio was fast right up until the end.
"On the strength of that performance I think Tom could be in for his first win of the season in the next race."
Tom Chilton: "It was a great battle with Turkington. He got a bit of drag and snuck by me. He hung onto the place so fair play to him. It was really fun to drive."
