Tander tests in preparation for Symmons Plains F3 round
THERE’S no rest for Fleetcare TanderSport Formula 3 driver Leanne Tander as Australia’s fastest female racer heads into this weekend’s second round of the Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship at Symmons Plains in Tasmania.
Only one week after racing in the Formula 3 support events at the Formula 1 Foster’s Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, Leanne and V8 Supercar star husband Garth have loaded their Dallara/Holden onto the boat and across Bass Strait for this weekend.
Tander, who sits sixth in the championship after the opening round at Wakefield Park recently, tested yesterday for the first time at the 2.41-kilometre venue outside of Launceston.
It was the 25-year-old’s first real meaningful wet weather run in one of the open-wheeler F3 cars, as she continues to gain confidence and experience in the two-litre, winged racing machines.
