Third row qualifying slot for Devaney In China
Shanghai, China, 1st April 2006: Michael Devaney has qualified on the third row of the grid for tomorrow’s Chinese A1 Grand Prix, the final round of the inaugural series. Having had his track time in practice limited due to technical problems, Michael worked down to a highly competitive fourth fastest lap time in qualifying, but sixth on aggregate after his final qualifying run was ruined when he caught the Italian car on its slowing down lap, on the racing line.
Earlier in the day his final practice session was cut in half by a gearbox problem traced to a broken selector. Using old tyres for his first qualifying run, Michael suffered a lock-up which lost him time. Once on new rubber he was immediately on the pace, his third run of 1m52.173s the fourth fastest time of the day.
