TOP TEN EFFORT FROM ADRAD RACING IN CARRERA CUP CLIPSAL 500 QUALIFYING
BRYCE WASHINGTON has moved closer to the leaders after qualifying 10th for the opening race of the 2006 WPS Australian Carrera Cup Championship at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
In a tightly contested session that saw the top spot swap hands a number of times, Washington’s 10th-place effort saw him lap just 1.2seconds slower than eventual pole sitter Alex Davison, meaning that Washington has closed the gap to pole by well over half a second since practice yesterday.
The ADRAD Racing Porsche, the only South Australian entry in this weekend’s 22-car Carrera Cup field, sat as high as 7th in the session only to be bumped back to the fifth row of the grid in a late session flurry.
Washington was only two tenths of a second behind the third row of the grid at the end of the session, the result buoying the local driver’s hopes heading into tomorrow’s opening race.
