It's a race against time to get the Ford Glenfords-AEG V8 Supercar on the grid at Indy
Glenfords Racing Team Owner Paul Cruickshank has made the decision to lease an ex-Larkham Motorsport Ford Falcon V8 Supercar for the upcoming round at Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast.

After reviewing the damaged Glenfords-AEG V8 Supercar Cruickshank and his team concluded that there was insufficient time to repair the car for the upcoming round.

"We thought we may be able to repair the Glenfords car after Bathurst but a closer inspection showed the damage was too significant to repair it before Indy," Team Owner Paul Cruickshank said today.

"We're fortunate to be able to lease a very good car for the upcoming event on a round-by-round basis, the ex-Larkham Motorsport car driven by Mark Winterbottom last year, which we have just taken delivery of, so the boys will get to work on it straight away and get it ready for next week."

Once on track, the car will look exactly the same as the number 20 Glenfords Falcon that took to the grid at Bathurst on the weekend.

Work continues on the Glenfords-AEG car
"Parts of the car, such as the roof, need to be resprayed and once the door panels and spoilers go on, that already carry our sponsor's livery; the car will look identical to what we had at Bathurst and I have no doubt the boys will prepare and setup the car really well."

While the team's driver Marcus Marshall will drive the car for the first time on the Surfer's Paradise street circuit, Cruickshank is confident they will be competitive.

"Marcus won't drive the car until we get to the track, but we will set it up how we would have set up our original car so there shouldn't be much of a problem."

As with most of the tracks on this year's calendar, Marshall is yet to race a V8 Supercar around the famous Gold Coast street circuit, but has track knowledge courtesy of his 12th place in Champ Cars last year where he was the only full-time Australian driver in the category.

Marshall also had a stunning victory on the circuit winning all three races of the Australian Formula 3 round there in 2004.

The Glenfords-AEG Falcon will take to the track for round 10 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series on next Friday, 20 October at 9.10am and 12.20pm for two 35-minute practice sessions before qualifying later in the day.

Race one will be on Saturday, 21 October at 4.00pm while races two and three will be on Sunday, 22 October from 11.05am and 3.55pm respectively.
