ADELAIDE'S ASHER JOHNSTON READY FOR NEXT VICTORIAN CHALLENGE
RISING SOUTH AUSTRALIAN Open Wheel ace Asher Johnston has today confirmed that he will be tackling the challenging Victorian State Formula Ford Championship in 2006.
19-year-old Johnston, who is based in the Adelaide seaside suburb of Glenelg, took the Victorian Formula Vee 1600 title in 2005; becoming just the first South Australian to do so in over 40 years of Vee competition in Australia.
With Formula Ford racing the next logical step forward in his burgeoning driving career, Johnston has purchased a Mygale SJ04 for his challenge on the Victorian title, the same chassis used by Dale Wood in a successful 2005 season that saw him win races in both the Victorian and National Formula Ford Championships.
The Adelaide university student unveiled the car he hopes will take him to another Victorian title at Adelaide’s Mallala Raceway last weekend, and said that he was excited about the prospect of making the step up into the Formula Ford
