VARIETY STILL THE WORD, PETER FLOYD THE PERFORMANCE CAR KING
Given the sensational racing this year in the Donut King Australian Performance Car Championship, it was only fitting that the championship concluded with a weekend that saw the seventh different round winner in seven rounds, and the crowning of the series champion.
Peter Floyd (BP Ultimate HSV GTS) capped off his dramatic weekend at Phillip Island with the championship win, sixth place in today’s race having been enough to seal the title. At the head of the field, Beric Lynton (Donut King BMW M3) took the race and round win.
Lynton’s classy drive in this morning’s final race of the year saw him take the win. He took the lead off the line and built a gap over the 11 lap duration to eventually win by five seconds.
It completes the championship’s clean sweep of different round winners in 2005. Just as Lynton is the seventh different driver to win a round in seven rounds this year, BMW becomes the fifth different manufacturer.
