Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit in Kent plays host to the final two rounds of the 2005 Formula Renault UK Championship with Michelin next weekend, 1st/2nd October, with Adderbury teenager Will Bratt aiming to end his debut season on a high.
After showing strongly in rounds 17 and 18 at Silverstone National Circuit last weekend, the 17-year-old heads to Brands Hatch next week hoping to achieve his first top 10 finish of the season and to consolidate 15th position overall in the driver standings.
In the B4 Group Graduate Cup class of the championship, there is also a mathematical chance Will could claim the title during the final meeting of the season but he’ll certainly have his work cut-out to usurp current points leader Richard Keen.
After winning the 2004 BRSCC T-Car Championship, it was decided Will would pursue a career in single-seater racing and so he made his debut in Formula Renault UK during that year's Winter Championship before continuing into the main series this season widely regarded as the most competitive junior championship in the world.
To date, Will has produced some solid performances for his Scorpio Motorsport team with top 10 results tantalisingly close on several occasions. So, the aim at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit next weekend will be to conquer qualifying and seize a top 10 grid slot for the first time in his Formula Renault UK career.
"We're giving ourselves too much work to do in the races
explained Will. "If we can qualify five or six places higher up the grid |
