TERRIBLE LUCK TARNISHES BRATT’S HOT QUALIFYING PACE
Adderbury’s Will Bratt was left ruing a huge dose of bad luck at the conclusion of qualifying for the 15th and 16th rounds of the Formula Renault UK Championship with Michelin at a rain-lashed Donington Park today.
The 17-year-old Scorpio Motorsport driver produced a masterful performance in the first of the day’s two 20-minute qualifying sessions and just when it looked as though he was about to record an incredible season’s best of a top four slot, Will’s rear suspension collapsed at Fogarty’s Esses during his last tour of the circuit.
Not only did it ruin, what was, his fastest lap of the session over the first two sectors of the 2.5-mile GP track, it also meant Will plummeted down the timesheets to 18th position by the end as countless other drivers were able to improve during their final attempts when a drier racing line began to appear.
In the second qualifying session, held during the afternoon, rain was still a major factor but Will once again underlined his wet weather prowess by getting to grips with the conditions very early on
