Performance Car Stoush Set To Be Anything But A Walk In the Park
Already one of the most competitive and diverse championships in the nation, the Donut King Australian Performance Car Championship steps up a gear when it heads to Oran Park Raceway this weekend, August 12-14.
Round five of the championship will see a season high field of 26 cars take to the track, with some new faces and returning friends joining the fray. It is set to take the competition to a new level - in a championship which already has already seen four different round winners in as many events and has five different manufacturers represented inside the top seven on the standings.
Last month in Darwin, Peter Floyd (BP Ultimate HSV GTS) moved into the championship lead and, in the process, went from being the hunter to the hunted. A round win at Eastern Creek in May and remarkable consistency to finish every round inside the top four has done his championship cause no harm. Now with 274 points to his name, the Victorian holds a 29 point advantage in the championship.
While the 2.62km Oran Park circuit is tipped will favour the more nimble four wheel drive turbos, Floyd has his eyes on the big picture, and is planning a consistent approach with just three rounds remaining in the championship.
