In the best Kerrick Sports Sedan Series race of the weekend, Tony Ricciardello had his hardest task in maintain a perfect season win record. He lost the lead to former champions Kerry Baily shortly after the start and for several laps Ricciardello was unable to find a way past.
Ultimately an opportunity presented itself at turn four halfway through, and the West Australian Alfa/Chev driver was through and gone. Two laps later defending champion Darren Hossack (Saab/Chev) effected an identical move to relegate Baily to third.
Dean Randle (Saab/Chev) was also in the mix but a lapse caused him to lose his then third spot to Hossack. By the end he was challenging Baily who was pressuring Hossack as they charged to the race’s completiton as the four finished nose-to-tail.
Des Wall struggled to stay with the quartet in the end but manage a solid fifth in the Chev Corvette and was clear of Phil Crompton’s Ford Mustang Tranzam and the Honda Prelude/Chev of Dean Camm.
