With a win in the final race of the fourth round of the Shannons Australian Production Car Championship, David Ryan has completed a clean sweep of both outright and class victories at Eastern Creek this weekend.
Starting some 50 seconds after the small engined Class C cars, his Class A Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo cut through them and the Class B brigade and easily won his third race of the weekend. In the end it was Class C filling the first four outright positions as Drew Russell (Honda S2000) wore down the brakeless Elf Holden Commodore of Scott Anderson which finished third.
As they breasted the finish line, Nick Dunkley (Falcon) pipped Class C winner Leigh Mertens whose Proton Satria was another with a perfect score sheet for the weekend. Class leader Daniel Natoli (Proton) had a race he would rather forget after being turned around on the second corner of race one.
Any chance of Steve Briffa claiming a third Class B victory in the Thirty Toyota Celica disappeared with spark plug issues from the start. His car owner Allan Shephard (Honda Integra) came off third best when squeezed at the start by Trevor Keene (Celica) and Rick Bates (Toyota Corolla Sportivo). In the meantime series leader was able to shoot away for a Class B win and sixth outright.
Martin Doxey (Holden Astra) was second in Class C and seventh outright, finishing just fractions of a second ahead of Keene and Bates. Then followed Dane Rudolph (Citroen) and Natoli who had a great last quarter scrap with Lauren Gray in her Toyota Echo Sportivo. Darren Best suffered mechanical ailments in the concluding stages and limped home ahead of Teigan Butchers (Proton), Briffa and the Toyota MR2 of Geoff Knigston.
