[Austrailian Production Cars] THE MOMENTUM CONTINUES PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 25 July 2005
Continuing his qualifying momentum, David Ryan has easily accounted for the best field of the season in the first race of the fourth round of the Shannons Australian Production Car Championship at Eastern Creek yesterday.
From pole position, Ryan executed a faultless start in his Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo, pulled a good lead on the opening lap, and maintained the gap for the entire six laps.
In the meantime, Scott Anderson successfully fended off the early challenges of Nick Dunkley (Falcon Turbo) and the Honda S2000 to bring the Elf Holden Commodore V8 home second while Russell slipped past Dunkley mid-race for third.
There was limited competition in Class B once Steve Briffa passed series leader Colin Osborne. Briffa (Toyota Celica) simply drove away from the similar Toyota whilst Osborne’s team mate Trevor Keene was passed by Rick Bates in the Toyota Corolla Sportivo.
Allan Shephard started from the back in his Honda Integra, passed all the Class C cars before a spin pushed him down the order again.
After pinching pole off Class A leader Daniel Natoli (Proton Satria), Leigh Mertens (Proton) maintain his advantage throughout while Dane Rudolph (Citroen) failed to hold off Marty Doxey (Holden Astra).
The Ford Focus of Darren Best followed clear of the David Mertens Holden Vectra while the girl battle between Teigan Butchers (Proton) and Lauren Gray (Toyota Echo Sportivo) went the way of the latter with a last lap pass.
