The V8 Supercar Championship continues to heat up - literally - as the field heads this week to Hidden Valley Raceway outside Darwin for Round 6 of the series, where in-form Holden Racing team driver Todd Kelly will attempt to string together a second consecutive win in a bid to boost his championship hopes.
Placed 14th in championship standings just two rounds ago, Todd has improved his position to 5th and travels to hot and humid Hidden Valley as not only the defending champion at that venue, but also as the winner of the last round, in Shanghai, China.
Todd and HRT also racked up the team's 50th round victory in China, becoming the first team in Australian touring car history to achieve the milestone. The cars of Todd and teammate Mark Skaife will run in Darwin with a special commemorative bonnet (see picture attached).
Castrol Team Perkins Racing's Steve Richards also has form on his side, with second-place finishes in the past two rounds, while Mark Skaife shows blistering qualifying and race pace but is yet to put it all together across a race weekend. Super Cheap Auto Racing's Greg Murphy will aim to recapture the form that won him the New Zealand leg of the championship just four rounds ago, while the improving Paul Radisich (Team Kiwi Racing) and Jamie Whincup (Dodo Racing) plan to consolidate their breakthrough performances in China.
See the attached document for more information and quotes from Holden drivers and various facts about this round.
