Four in top six for Stobart at Macau PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 19 November 2006
Michael Rutter, Macau 2006Stobart Motorsport riders Michael Rutter, Ian Hutchinson, Stuart Easton and John McGuinness filled four of the top six placings to round off a successful event at the Rio Hotel Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Michael Rutter was unable to add to his tally of six wins after having to settle for second place behind Steve Plater, whilst Ian Hutchinson claimed the final rostrum position in third for the VK and Vent Axia backed Stobart Honda team.

Scotsman Stuart Easton had a fine ride to take fourth place whilst eleven times TT winner John McGuinness rounded out the top six after having problems during the race.

Commenting after the race, team owner Paul Bird said.

“Whilst it’s not the win that we came for, two bikes on the podium isn’t bad at all and to get our other two riders inside the top six has been a pretty good achievement.  No names mentioned but there was some pretty desperate riding going on out there and my riders were sensible enough not to get mixed up in it.  But I’m delighted that we have come away from here with these results and we can now start building towards next year.”

The Cumbrian businessman hopes to be announcing his line up for the 2007 British Superbike Championship next week.
