Qualifying for the final round of the Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series has Hi-Tech Motorsports well placed for a good result as Grant Johnson took pole position in his Grove Juices Holden Commodore SS.
Kerry Wade in the team’s OBH/Fuchs Ford Falcon XR8 was third fastest
and Scott Jennings placed his Legrande Ford Falcon XR8 tenth to give
Hi-Tech Motorsports three cars in the top ten at Eastern Creek for the
first of tomorrow’s three races.
Matt Moorhead in the team’s Romanza Properties Ford Falcon XR8 battled
with ongoing gearbox issues to obtain 20th position while Greg Willis
in the Grove Juices Ford Falcon XR8 will start the first race out of
position 24.
“Another good effort from all really,” said team principle John
“Barrel” Pachos “although we didn’t think Grant could get pole. Kerry’s
Ford had been faster in practice by about half a second.
“Scotty’s done another good job to get three of our cars in the top ten
and Matt’s real problem just getting his head around the gearbox – in
time that will come,” he added.
“I am really pleased with how Greg is coming along. The qualifying
session was on a slower track and he was the only one out there
matching his times from the earlier faster session,” Barrel concluded.
Hi-Tech Motorsports has the largest compliment of V8 Utes this weekend
with five cars managed by a total personnel of around 20. The team is
western Sydney base at Wetherill Park.
