The Official Clio Cup Scholarship races on to your TV screen through the high speed Motors TV channel, Sky channel 413.
The Official Clio Cup Scholarship is a competition open to anyone 17 years and over. The first prize is a full season racing in the 2007 Clio Cup Championship, which supports the British Touring Car Championship and the World Series by Renault series.
From Friday 23rd February Motors TV will broadcast 30 minute episodes
each week for 6 weeks covering the scholarship from Round One, right
through to the winner being selected. In the sixth episode coverage of
the winner's first test day with the Double Six team, as part of the
Official Clio Cup test day, will be broadcast. This is likely to be
the first time the New for 2007 Clio Cup car will be featured on TV in
the UK.
Further ongoing discussions about broadcasting a behind the scenes
documentary following the winner throughout the season are taking
place, and we hope to make a further announcement soon.
Marc Nelson, Team Manager of Double Six Racing, comments "This is
fantastic news! We are really excited about showing what goes on in
the scholarship, and also what it takes to compete in the Clio Cup
championship. We started the scholarship on the basis of providing an
opportunity for people who may be very good drivers but may not be able
to fund the racing themselves. Furthermore we decided that we would
promote the winner as much as possible during the season - the coverage
on Motors TV will help with this enormously."
"Motors TV has built itself as the leading Motorsport channel in the UK
over the past years, through broadcasting major international series
but also, and probably even more importantly, most national UK
championships. Our aim is to address all Motorsport fans, and who else
shall be more interested than those willing to play a role in the
sport! The Official Clio Cup Scholarship then made perfect sense to us,
and we're very confident it will help our channel grow even further as
well as letting people know how to get involved in Motorsport", added
Motors TV Head of Programming & Acquisitions Frédéric Viger.
