A huge field of WRC Cars will be joined by some of Irelands top Rallycross cars in a more than 120 car entry for the traditional end of season Rallysprint at Mondello Park on December 27th. Organised by the Carlow Car Club the fun but highly competitive event regularly draws all of the big names to Mondello Park to compete on the unique, part tarmac, part loose surface, Rallysprint stage.
Leading the WRC cars away will be the likes of Kenny McKinstry, Niall
Maguire & Kevin Barrett with their Subaru Impreza's but they will
have their work cut out to beat the Rallycross Supercars of George
Tracey and Helmut Holfeld. The remainder of the entry list is like a
who's who of Irish Rallying.
The short winter day means an early start for competitors with a
familiarisation run for all drivers prior to the first of three timed
runs which get under way at 10.00am. The huge field means there will be
no let up in the action, which will see a very busy track as drivers
are let away from the staggered start in heats of up to ten cars. Each
driver will get three runs of three laps with the total times for all
three runs determining their final result. The day will be rounded out
by what should be a lively prize giving in the Mondello Park bar after
the final runs.
Admission for adults is €15.00 with accompanied under 16's admitted free.
