Fabrizio Giovanardi won for Vauxhall in this afternoon's third race after Tom Chilton suffered gear box problems whilst leading the race.
Chilton eventually finished eighth despite holding off a chasing pack for 25 laps of a 27 lap race. The 21-year-old had been battling with technical problems from the 20th lap.
Gavin Smith finished tenth after starting at the back of the grid.
Fabrizio Giovanardi: "When I need to fight to win I feel great. I prefer to win the race like this than when I lead by miles.
"I felt my car good. I watched my team-mate in front and he was really fast. I thought, if he's fast, I can be faster, but I decided to concentrate on not making any mistakes rather than pushing Tom. It turned out to be a good choice."
Ian Harrison: "You'd have to say that Tom Chilton had that in the bag but started to get gear shift problems otherwise he would have won.
"We know we're not the fastest out there but we're taking advantage of all the opportunities that come our way."
Tom Chilton: "It's frustrating but that's motor-racing - nothing's a dead-cert. I was doing consistent laps, wasn't making any mistakes and then the gear box decided to go. It's just made me more motivated than ever to get my first win for VX Racing."
