New Season, New Car For Race Winner Bratt |

 Adderbury race ace Will Bratt is looking forward to remaining in the Formula Renault UK Championship for a third season of competition this year having officially confirmed he will remain with front-running outfit Scorpio Motorsport for the 2007 season.
In addition to his new deal with the Loughborough-based squad, 18-year-old Will has been shown great commitment by Scorpio team bosses Jon Pettitt and Tony Trevor who have invested 61,000 Euros in a brand new FR 2.0 chassis with which the 2004 T-Car Champion will aim to be a regular challenger for podiums and race victories.
The Apotex Pharmaceuticals-backed star, who took a superb maiden
category win last season before concluding the campaign eighth overall
from the 41 drivers registered for the championship, will head into
official pre-season testing in less than two month’s time confident of
building on the success he achieved in 2006.
Will has completed two shakedown tests in the new car to date, both of
which took place prior to the Christmas break, and with fault-free runs
the Oxon sensation has declared himself delighted with his new
challenger’s speed and handling.
“I am really looking forward to the new season”, said Will after
officially confirming his plans for 2007, “It’s fantastic to be
continuing our partnership with Jon and Tony at Scorpio, the team did a
terrific job for me last year and our working relationship has become a
very strong one.
“I’m also delighted with the continuing strong support from Apotex and
I’m confident we’ll all share in a great deal of success this year. The
ability of Apotex to dismantle the exorbitant prices major drug
companies charge for mainstream pharmaceuticals should be applauded,
I’m proud of my association with them.”
He added: “With the new car I’m confident it will give us the necessary
edge to compete at the front season-long. We’re certainly not
underestimating the challenge which will lie ahead, it’s sure to be a
tough year, but I think we can start the championship with a
competitive package and develop a strong campaign throughout the
season.”
Although the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship marks Will’s third
season of single-seater competition, he remains one of the youngest
drivers in the category having debuted in the world renowned series at
just 16-years-of-age.
Last year Will truly came of age as a single-seater racer with an
outstanding, hard fought victory coming at the demanding Oulton Park.
This performance was supplemented by a string of top four and top six
results, including further podium success at Donington Park.
Delighted to have agreed a deal for Will to remain with Scorpio
Motorsport into 2007, team boss Jon Pettitt commented: “We’re really
looking forward to the new season and we’re obviously delighted to have
signed Will for a third season. The opportunity to keep him at Scorpio
and enjoy good continuity is a great boost for everyone at the team.
“The win at Oulton Park last year was proof we are moving forward all
the time and I think our performances in 2006 made people take us far
more seriously. The pressure will be on this year though. A good
championship run is what we all want to achieve but we know not to
underestimate the competition as it’s guaranteed to be very tough.”
Will’s signing marks him out as Scorpio’s first confirmed driver for
the 2007 season, a year in which the Apotex-backed team is hoping to
expand to a three-car line-up having ended last season a highly
creditable fourth overall in the entrant standings, thanks to the
combined efforts of Will and former team-mate David Epton.
