No. 46 Matthew Perry managed to win both races of the Pan Delta Lotus Challenge Series during the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival. He finished race 1 and race 2 in 18:36.894 and 19:04.190 respectively.
No.33 Tom Cham drove a superb race in race 2, charged up from last place and was closing in on Matthew Perry by half a second to a full second a lap, but the race ended before they could commence battle. No. 1 Kevin Tse finished third both times.
Tom Cham said, "I was a little too anxious on lap 1 when the track was still slippery and spun at T10. That costed me a lot of time and positions. After that I gradually gained confidence and charged through the field."
Did he think he could make it pass Matthew Perry if there was two more laps to go? "I think I would have a good chance!" he smiled. Tom Cham also set the fastest lap in both races, 1:49.252 in race 1 and 1:49.903 in race 2.
Matthew Perry said, "Tom was coming up quite quickly but I think I had him covered. I still have more in hand and if there were two more laps it would have been interesting."
Matthew Perry had also won race 1 on Saturday, beating Tom by 1.793 seconds. Tom had a coming together with Kevin Tse in the race and Kevin came off worse, dropping to fourth before charging back to take third place.
No. 181 Nigel Farmer won in class B in both races, easily outran his only opponent in the class, no. 38 Stephen Fan.
The next races of the Pan Delta Lotus Challenge Series will be held on 24th - 25th March as support races of the FIA GT Championship - China Round at Zhuhai International Circuit.
