Nathan Freke Heads To Florida To Test A Champ Car Atlantic PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 21 January 2007
2006 UK Formula Ford Champion Nathan Freke will head to Florida this coming weekend to test in a Champ Car Atlantic at Sebring. Nathan will be testing in the 300 bhp car for last years Championship winning team Walker Racing/Team Australia. Champ Car Atlantic is the feeder series for the American version of F1 and is the USA equivalent of GP2, which feeds F1. Nathan’s management team have arranged the test with a view to finding a seat in the series should the testing go as planned. Nathan’s only slicks and wings experience was in a World Series Renault car at the Young Driver of the Year tests last November, but he adapted quickly to that in is confident of doing so in the Atlantic car. ‘I have been working towards this all of my driving career, particularly in the last 18 months, I will have to adapt to the heavy down force of the cars, on a circuit I will be seeing for the first time, where there will be little data available, as this configuration of Sebring is not normally used. However it is an opportunity and I will have to take it the same way as I did in Formula Ford last year – I am really looking forward to it. I have one offer on the table at the moment, but I am holding out for a drive in single seaters at Atlantic/F3 level which is where I need to be to progress my career.’
