A1GP tester impresses at Bedford Autodrome
Malaysian racing driver Nik Iruwan put in a great performance at Bedford Autodrome today as he tested a Formula Palmer Audi car for the first time.
A1 Team Malaysia test driver Iruwan, 21, has experience of single-seaters from the Formula BMW Asia series, where in 2004 he finished on the podium in the support race to the inaugural Chinese F1 Grand Prix. In the 300bhp turbocharged FPA car, Nik set a best lap of 1m06.1s around the 1.8-mile Bedford test circuit.
"The test went really well," said Iruwan. "It's a very physical car to
driver, but with the wide tyres and downforce, it has plenty of grip.
It's quite similar to the A1GP car in many ways, and I think it's a
good opportunity to progress my career."
Iruwan is hoping to contest the forthcoming FPA championship, which
kicks off at Silverstone in April: "FPA is definitely my first choice
for 2007, and I'm looking forward to competing and hopefully winning!"
FPA series boss and former Formula 1 driver Jonathan Palmer was
impressed by Nik's efforts: "Nik's performance was thoroughly
impressive for a debut test."
Formula Palmer Audi has proved itself over the last nine years to be
the most cost-effective route to top-level motorsport. The 2007 season
will feature 20 races at eight great UK circuits all for a cost of just
£55,000 plus VAT. For more information and to arrange a test drive,
