Ingall Set For More Horsepower PDF Print E-mail

Leading Gold Coast trainer Alan Bailey and his horse Star of Canada give Russell Ingall a few words of advice.Caltex Racing’s V8 Supercar driver Russell Ingall has taken advice virtually from the horse’s mouth as he prepares for a worthwhile visit to the Toowoomba Turf Club for a twilight meeting this Saturday.

It was a case of two Gold Coast champions chewing the fat over potential winners, when Ingall caught up with leading Queensland horse trainer Alan Bailey at his Surfers Paradise complex this week.

While the former V8 Supercar champion and two-time Bathurst winner was adamant of netting some success at the track this weekend, he was also left in no doubt who the real winners will be from the inaugural twilight race meeting, supported by Toowoomba business Petro Fuel and Lubricants.

Caltex Racing’s Russell Ingall gets it straight from the horses mouth before this weekend’s race day in Toowoomba.“Petro Fuel and Lubricants are a re-seller for Caltex and should be acknowledged for their support of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, who will directly benefit from a special dinner and entertainment package being offered at the twilight meeting,” said Ingall.

“When horsepower of any kind is able to help out such a worthy cause, with the support of the local community, then I’m more than happy to be involved and assist where I can.

“I’ve been involved with the Starlight Children’s Foundation since 2003 and having seen the great work these guys do in brightening the lives of sick and hospitalised children, there is no doubt that Starlight is a fantastic organisation.

“This is a very worthwhile cause and I hope the locals across the Darling Downs and the rest of South-East Queensland get right behind this fundraising effort.”

Last year Petro’s ongoing efforts raised $26,000 and the dedicated team has set a target of $50,000 this year for the Children’s Charity.

Ingall himself has been a strong personal fundraiser for the Starlight Foundation since joining Caltex Racing in 2003.

Tickets for the event, which is a twilight meeting stating at 3pm, are $35 each, which includes course entry, dinner and entertainment.

There will be a list of sporting memorabilia up for grabs including a signed Brisbane Broncos Premiership jersey, Rydges Resort Holiday plus a mega Multi Draw raffle on the day with over 20 prizes valued at over $1000 to be won.

Anyone wanting to book tickets to the event should call 1800 333 080 or call in to Petro Fuels at 383 Taylor Street Toowoomba.

ABOUT THE TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB

The Toowoomba Turf Club was formed in 1882 and is the only track in Australia to offer regular twilight meetings under lights.

The first recorded Toowoomba Cup was run in 1919. In 1992 the club made Australian racing history by staging the first race ever run under electric lights, the Fosters Toowoomba Cup, which was won by Waigani Drive.

On 4 September 1996, the club staged the first ever night race meeting in Australia.
