Sheffield teenager Richard Plant will contest his first full season of car racing in 2007, having signed up for the Formula Palmer Audi Championship.
Plant, 17, made the step-up from a successful karting career last November in the FPA Autumn Trophy, gaining vital experience of the 300bhp turbocharged single-seaters he will race this season. After scoring top-10 finishes in the Autumn Trophy races at Snetterton and Brands Hatch, Plant is confident he can succeed in 2007.
"The Autumn Trophy was the very first car racing I'd ever done, and the
speed and the adrenaline rush of the FPA cars made me want to come back
for more!" said Plant, ahead of the FPA Championship which kicks off at
Silverstone on 7 April. "I've still got plenty to learn, but I'm
confident I can do well this season."
FPA series boss and former Formula 1 driver Jonathan Palmer was
delighted to welcome Richard back to the championship: "Richard was
fantastic in the Autumn Trophy and I'm sure he'll be competitive in
2007."
The FPA Championship takes in 20 races at eight of the UK's most famous
circuits, including Brands Hatch, Donington Park and Oulton Park.
