Ernesto Catella Starts Elk Motorsport And Aims At Success In Formula 3000 PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 16 February 2007
After having drawn attention to himself in the seventies and eighties as a formula driver, Ernesto Catella have then became known in international field for the important successes obtained with RC Motorsport, the team he has started in 1989, and for having helped the careers of drivers such as Giancarlo Fisichella, Alessandro Zanardi, Jarno Trulli, Esteban Tuero and Enrique Bernoldi.

After a break and thanks to the support of an important long-standing sponsor, the manager from Milan has decided to step again into car racing with a new team, ELK MOTORSPORT. Among the several formula championships that are emerging, Catella has chosen the Formula 3000 for his comeback as he believes that the Euroseries 3000 is the best launching pad both for Elk Motorsport and for his drivers, without concealing the fact that is goal is GP2.

And his return to the stage it’s intended to be successful already from 2007, both in the Italian Championship, where he has already won many titles (in F.2000 and F3), and in Europe, where Elk Motorsport will have the chance to distinguish itself on F1 circuits and in front of the live TV viewers.

The new Mechacrome 500 BHP, the new aerodynamic kit and the F1 super licence at stake, as well as the involvement of prestigious teams as Fisichella Motor Sport and Minardi Team, have persuaded him to take up this challenge.

Ernesto Catella has stated: “I’m really satisfied with this agreement with Coloni Motorsport and I’m sure that the upcoming season will be very rewarding. I’m sure it will be a winning team and that my staff will be competitive, also thanks to the collaboration with Jean Silani who has already been the engineer of Liuzzi, Pantano and Friesacher. We are now considering several drivers and will soon communicate the line up.”
