Gough Racing to campaign 2007 Championship with Ray/CDR |

Multiple race winning team, Gough Racing, are pleased to announce their 2007 programme which will see a continued partnership with team sponsor, Oldfield’s Autos of Southport.
The team will once again compete in Club Formula Ford having agreed a deal to run a new Ray GRS07. In something of a coup for the team, which will be running in the Ray Sport colours, the agreement will see not only full works support from the factory team, but also technical support from the hugely successful Cliff Dempsey Racing. Championship winning BBE Power will continue to supply engines to the team.
The Ray GRS07 will undoubtedly be the car to beat following 2006 where
the chassis took victories not only in Formula Ford 1600, but also in
the British Formula Ford Championship. The link up between Gough
Racing and Cliff Dempsey Racing will allow the team to maximise the
performance of the GRS07. CDR is the most successful team in the
history of Irish Motorsport, taking driver Peter Dempsey to 3rd overall
in the 2006 British Formula Ford Championship behind the wheel of a
Ray. Their experience will be a valuable asset to Gough Racing in what
promises to be an exciting link-up between the teams in 2007.
Gough Racing will be primarily be focusing on the North-West series
based at Oulton Park and Anglesey, with Stuart Gough retuning to a full
championship campaign for the team, having most recently sampled
Formula 3 in 2006.
Ian Gough, himself a race winner in Club Formula Ford with Gough Racing
in 2006 and the star of the season ending Walter Hayes Trophy, will
take 2007 as an opportunity to build upon his experience by undertaking
a programme of races in the Midlands and Castle Combe Championships,
while the tie up with CDR opens the door for Ian to compete in
Ireland. Appearances in the British Formula Ford Championship in a Ray
are also a real possibility for the younger of the Gough Brothers.
The team has also expanded over the off-season and can now offer race preparation during the North-West Championship.
