Team Australia’s Marcos Ambrose will make his NASCAR Busch Series debut from the 40th starting spot after qualifying at Daytona International Speedway in Florida today. Ambrose was the sixth fastest rookie in qualifying for the Orbitz 300 at the 2.5-mile Daytona superspeedway, focussing his attention on race pace and set-up as the Australian seeks to begin his 2007 season with a solid finish. Yesterday Ambrose was sixth fastest in final practice in the Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion and was pleased with the performance of the car while running in the draft, something that will be crucial to a good finish tomorrow. Aric Almirola qualified in pole position for tomorrow’s Orbitz 300 ahead of Jason Leffler and Ambrose’s Wood Brothers/JTG Racing team-mate Jon Wood in the #47 Clorox Ford Fusion. Marcos Ambrose – Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion “A solid finish is what is important for us this weekend,” said Ambrose. “Qualifying speed does not mean a great deal at the moment because it’s a long race and we just want to roll around and be conservative for the first half of the race. “People have said it all weekend, it doesn't matter where you start, and we're really happy with our race car. I'm here for the laps and to get the experience and stay out of trouble early on. “If we can hang out at the back of the lead pack, that will be plenty for me. The race package is good so we will look to come on a bit stronger in the second half of the race, but a finish is the priority.” WATCH MARCOS AMBROSE'S BUSCH SERIES DEBUT LIVE ONLINE FOR FREE For the first time ever, fans will be able to watch the LIVE TV Broadcast for Busch Series racing for the first three races of the 2007 season.
