Lincolnshire karting ace Jack Harvey heads out to his second International meeting of the season, the Margutti Trophy at the Parma circuit in Italy next week and he is determined to bring home his first silverware of 2007, by the end of the prestigious event.
13-year-old Lincoln Minster School pupil heads to the track early next week for some intensive testing prior to the one-off event. After setting competitive times at the JICA ‘O’ plate meeting at Shenington this weekend, he knows that the pace of the Maranello Kart chassis is exactly where he needs it to be to get him the results he wants.
A superb turn of pace at the Oxfordshire venue meant that Jack was able
to blitz the rest of the JICA class in the semi-final to line up on
pole-position for the final and a chance to carry the ‘O’ plate in UK
competition throughout the 2007 season.
However, as he went into the opening corner he was collected by a rival
and was forced onto the grass, effectively ending his challenge. A
great drive back from the rear of the field to 11th place was his
reward. But, he knows that he had the pace to take the win and intends
to carry it forward to Italy next weekend in the KF3 (Formally JICA)
class.
“I was definitely fast enough to win the final this weekend,” said
Jack. “The kart was quick all weekend and from pole I certainly had the
opportunity of taking a win at Shenington. It was frustrating to not
get a chance to race and get taken out instead,” he added.
“The Margutti Trophy is one of the big one-off meetings of the early
season and I am going over there with the intention of bringing back a
trophy,” he said. “The Maranello Kart has been working really hard on
getting everything right on the kart and getting as much pace as
possible before the Italian championships get underway.”
“I want to go out and show everyone what we can do at this level and
stepping onto the podium is the perfect way to do that, especially at
such a high profile event,” he added.
