Metcalfe Delighted With Pre-Season Progress PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 02 March 2007
Formula Renault UK title contender Jeremy Metcalfe concluded the second day of official pre-season testing at Rockingham Motor Speedway today delighted with the progress made by the AKA Cobra team – and the BRDC Rising Star is now itching to get back in his car for next week’s two day test at Snetterton.

The Hampshire 18-year-old, who posted the third fastest time during yesterday’s first official outing of the year, continued in the same vein today and although the team focused more on set-up work rather than out-and-out speed, Jeremy still posted some rapid lap times, his best of 1m 16.249 seconds (92.020mph) coming during session one.
“Today has been very productive for us”, said the BillChaser-backed ace, “We know we have a quick car and even though we spent the day working on changes to the set-up, we still ended up sixth fastest and just half a second from the top of the times so we’re more than happy.

“Yesterday was very good and everything went to plan today so we’re in great shape and looking forward to another promising test at Snetterton next week. I’m very pleased with the work we completed at Rockingham over the last two days, everything is looking good so far.”

Posting his fastest time of the day during the first of the three sessions, Jeremy continued to work closely with team boss Andrew Kirkaldy and chief engineer Paul Jackson throughout the day on a variety of set-up options and with the weather remaining dry, bright and cool, conditions at Rockingham were near perfect.

“This is an important year for me”, added Jeremy, “Our aim is to mount a serious challenge for the championship and we’re certainly going the right way about things if this first test is anything to go by. It was good to have two full days of dry running, hopefully the weather will be equally as good at Snetterton.”

The McLaren Autosport BRDC Award finalist now returns to his Banking & Finance studies at Loughborough University ahead of the second official pre-season test next week, at the 1.95-mile Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk, which takes place on Wednesday, 7th March, and Thursday, 8th March.
