Sixth Overall For Dexion Racing's Tim Slade In Clipsal 500 Fujitsu Round |

 Racing’s Tim Slade has finished inside the top six in his Fujitsu V8 Supercar Championship series debut at the Clipsal 500, in Adelaide, this weekend.
The 21-year-old driver, formerly from the Adelaide town of McLaren Vale, bounced back from a disappointing 10th place finish in yesterdays opening race to finish today’s 24-lap affair in seventh.
Yesterday Slade was en-route to a potential top five position with just a few laps remaining before another competitor turned his Dexion BA Falcon around at turn four.
The Dexion Falcon made a racy start in today’s event, moving into
seventh position and matching the leaders’ fastest laps early in the
piece.
A frantic mid-race dice between a number of competitors continued to
allow Slade to gather the close-combat experience required in V8
Supercar racing, Tim acquitting himself well in the heat of battle.
Slade eventually finished in the seventh position, three places higher
than yesterday and, importantly, in a position that allowed him to
secure sixth overall for the round – and in the championship standings
after one round – in his maiden V8 start.
Whilst the high-achieving driver aims to win in every race he starts,
Slade said that he was happy with a top six finish in his debut
performance.
”I made a really good start and had some excellent pace in the first part of the race,” Tim said.
 “In the middle of the race the Tyres went off and I had a lack of pace
for a while there. Once I had gotten my head around it the times picked
up and I was very happy with my pace towards the finish of the race – I
was just about as quick as the leaders.
“I’m really happy with the results and with the weekend overall,” He said.
”The team has done just an excellent job to build the car and get it
ready for this weekend. They had a tight deadline and have just done a
brilliant job. This result should give them even more motivation to
press on just as hard for the rest of the year.”
The Dexion driver said that the opportunity to race hand-to-hand with
the leading guns in the Fujitsu series had been one of the best aspects
of his Clipsal 500 weekend.
”I have raced against a lot of these guys before, in Formula Ford and Karting,” he said.
”But it’s good to race them in these cars and get a feel for what it’s
like driving a V8 Supercar in and amongst other competitors. It gives
me a chance to see how they race and take it all in.
”I’m really positive for Wakefield Park in a couple of weeks – It
should be a good weekend and hopefully we can continue the climb
forward.”
Dexion racing now sits 6th in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Championship
series heading into the series’ only stand-alone round, at Wakefield
Park in four weeks time.
