As part of their ongoing policy to attract more competitors back into the fold, the organisers of the 2007 Hankook MSA Gravel Rally Championship have added some more fantastic prizes to the series.
On the back of the recently announced HPM Motorsport 2WD Challenge donated by Rallye Sunseeker winner Marcus Dodd, whereby the top 2WD car in the championship gets to use his Hyundai Accent WRC on a future event, The Association of National Championship Rally Organisers (ANCRO) has agreed another major incentive, this time with another former champion Steve Perez who runs the successful company which supplies Vodka Kick.
As a result, The VK 1400 Challenge will run for the remaining rounds of
the Championship whereby the winner will get an all expenses paid trip
to the John Haugland Rally School in Norway over winter.
“We wanted it to be a little bit different so what better than to
prepare for the 2008 season with some expert tuition and the chance to
get some much sought after experience on snow and ice. We thought about
offering a prize drive but there is already that incentive in the
series so we have decided to offer this as that way, the winner can get
to test their own car” said Steve.
The winner of the VK 1400 Challenge will get their car transported out
to Norway, as well as a three day intensive course of tuition in
conjunction with the VK Vodka Kick Rally Team and all flights and
hotels will be paid for.
In addition, the runner up in the VK 1400 Challenge will get a tyre
contract and additional support from Hankook for the 2008 season.
With competitors best five scores out of the six remaining rounds
counting, there will be a discounted entry fee and free management pack
equating to £200 per event, block seeding and prize money for the top
three winners at each event. There will be no additional registration
fee for registered competitors.
As well as the two main prizes, there are additional ones on offer from
the new Nicky Grist Co Driver’s Academy, including a professional
course for the winners, plus incentives for second and third place
finishers and as well as these, all 2WD crews, irrespective of engine
size will qualify towards the HPM Motorsport 2WD Challenge.
The VK 1400 Challenge will commence with The Brick and Steel Border
Counties Rally later this month (March 24th) which comprises round two
of Hankook GRC and is open to all N1, A5 and B9 cars complying with FIA
Regulations. Unlike other 1400cc Championships, as is normal with the
Hankook GRC, there are no fuel or tyre restrictions and there is no
upper age limit for competitors.
