Increased Television Coverage - A Boost For BARC/Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup |

Dunlop Tyres has announced a new television deal with leading motorsport programme producer Greenlight TV that means the BARC / Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup will be broadcast on Sky Sports and Motors TV. As momentum builds for the BARC / Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup, this is a major boost for the inaugural series for which eleven confirmed drivers have already registered.
Greenlight TV have put together a package for at least five of the six rounds of the BARC/ Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup. The new television deal will offer in-depth race action of the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup to wider audiences with greater coverage on Sky Sports and Motors TV - making it an attractive series to new competitors.
Sky Sports will now feature the BARC / Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup in a
90-minute show with highlights from the Dunlop Great & British
Festivals that will broadcast to over 8 million homes across the UK and
Ireland.
Motors TV is to dedicate a half-hour show featuring the BARC / Dunlop
Sport Maxx Cup and will broadcast to over 15 million homes across
Europe.
In addition, coverage from the Dunlop Great & British Festivals will be shown on networks worldwide.
Lisa Davison of Dunlop has stated: “The latest announcement that
television coverage is to increase for 2007, is an exciting new
development for the inaugural season of the BARC / Dunlop Sport Maxx
Cup. The new deal will provide rare opportunities to see contemporary
cars going head-to-head, on a fully televised promoted race package.
“Television coverage has been a major success story for the British
Touring Car Championship and the concept of offering Great &
British Championships the same level of coverage in reaching millions
of viewers world-wide, has been an important asset in attracting new
competitors to the sport,” Lisa adds.
The Dunlop Great & British Festivals feature some of the UK’s
biggest championships, the Mini Challenge, the Radical Biduro
Championships, the Radical Enduro Championships and the Playstation2
Ginetta Junior Championships. The BARC/ Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup will
join the action, offering spectators and viewers around the world the
opportunity to see the revival of production based sports coupes and
hot hatches doing battle on tracks across the UK.
The Dunlop Great & British Festival organisers have been inundated
with new drivers eager to compete in this year’s championships to
guarantee packed grids following the success of the 2006 inaugural
program.
