Aussie Vinyards Official Wine Of Champ Car PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 12 March 2007
Aussie Vineyard’s AU range has been named as the “Official Wine of the Champ Car World Series”.

Team Australia co-owners Derrick Walker and Craig Gore and series co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven made the announcement during Spring Training at Laguna Seca Raceway in California today.

As part of this year’s promotion, a bottle of AU wine will be signed by the winner of each round of the Champ Car World Series and presented in a special 2007 championship case. The bottle will be auctioned for charity at the end of the season.

The winner of each of the 16 rounds of this year’s Champ Car World Series will also be presented with a dozen bottles of their preferred Aussie Vineyards product.

Gore, who is the owner of Aussie Vineyards, was more than happy to make today’s announcement right in the middle of one of the US’s premier wine growing regions.

“Obviously we see Champ Car as a valuable marking tool for our Aussie Vineyards product and we are proud that the AU range is the official wine of the series,” said Gore.

“We are continually activating programs that will see Aussie Vineyards wine in more than 5000 outlets across the US.

“We believe that the on-going marketing improvements the series is making and this year’s television package will help drive our sales. After that, we are confident the quality of our wine will then help sell itself.

“Hopefully our two drivers will have the chance to win more cases of wine than anyone else.”

Team Australia, under the management of Walker, will be a serious contender for this year’s championship with its two young stars Will Power and Simon Pagenaud at the wheel of the new Aussie Vineyards Panoz DP01s.

Power was fastest in a recent open Champ Car test in Houston and is full of confidence after taking pole at his home race on Queensland’s Gold Coast last year and then finishing third two weeks later in the season finale in Mexico City.

Kalkhoven, who enjoys wine and the AU range, said that he was delighted to have a wine product of his native Australia as the official wine of the series.

“We are delighted that a naming rights sponsor of one of our teams is also the official wine of the Champ Car World Series,” said Kalkhoven.

“The Team Australia concept is a fantastic one and has been responsible for helping drive the success of Aussie Vineyards and the team’s other corporate partners.

“Aussie Vineyards don’t produce a sparking wine that we can spray on the podium just yet, but I am sure each race winner will enjoy a quiet glass of AU white or red back home mid-week after a Sunday victory.”

The first round of the Champ Car World Series will be in Las Vegas from April 6-8.
