‘Adopt-a-Driver’ Scheme launched for M7RSC members
The new Mini 7 Racing Supporters Club (M7RSC) has launched a new scheme that will enable all members to show their support by putting their name on the side of their favourite driver’s car, with the chance to win special prizes in a M7RSC fantasy league.
When a member of the public joins the M7RSC, they will be asked to nominate their favourite driver to support, there is no charge for this as it is all included in the joining fee of £18 per year. Each driver will carry up to ten names, five 6cm x 1cm names on each side of their race car, with the names being selected for each driver on a first come, first served basis. The names will then be entered into a Fantasy League competition where the supporters will score points based on the driver’s performance on the track.
To make it fairer, there will a handicap system based on the drivers
finishing position in the 2006 championship. For example the points
scored by the supporters nominating one of the top 4 drivers in the
2006 championship, will have the points scored in 2007 multiplied by
1. The supporters nominating the next 4 drivers from the 2006
championship will have their scores multiplied by 1.25 and the next 4
multiplied by 1.5 and the next 1.75. All new drivers in the 2007
championships will have their scores multiplied by 2.
The group of supporters that score the most points in 2007 will each
win a free M7RSC membership for 2008 with one of the names being drawn
out of the hat to win a pair of tickets to attend the 2007 Mini 7
Awards Evening.
“Not only do members of the Mini 7 Racing Supporters Club get to
support the driver on the track they get to put their name on a racing
Mini as part of the deal,” said M7RC Chairman Nick Cooke. “The M7RSC
Fantasy League also gives this support another dimension, with the
chance to win some good prizes but also gives our supporters the real
sense of being involved with the action instead of just an interested
bystander. It will be interesting to see which driver and their
supporters come out on top at the end of the 2007 season. The
Adopt-a-Driver scheme along with all the other benefits of joining the
Mini 7 Racing Supporters Club, makes the £18 annual fee exceptionally
good value and should be a must for all fans of Mini 7 Racing.”
