International Formula Master (IFM) has confirmed four more drivers for the Series’ inaugural season adding France, New Zealand and Japan to an already global list of young drivers. To date, 31 full season entries have been announced for 2007.
New Zealander Chris Van der Drift will partner Claudio Cantelli Jr at J.D. Motorsport for 2007. The 21-year-old raced for the team last year and is looking forward to continuing his relationship with the Italian outfit.
“I can’t wait to get behind the wheel,” said Van der Drift. “I feel
like I have a really good advantage because I know the team already. I
was with them last year and that season went so well, I hope we can
repeat that in International Formula Master. I can’t wait!”
Euronova Racing has also announced that Alberto Costa will continue
with the team as part of their 2007 line-up. The 19-year-old, who first
competed with Euronova Racing in 2005, will be joined this year by Le
Mans racer, Pierre Ragues, from France as well as IFM’s first confirmed
female driver, Keiko Ihara of Japan, who has raced in British Formula 3
for the past two years.
Euronova Racing team owner Vincenzo Sospiri is extremely enthusiastic
about the upcoming season. “The Series is well organised and I am sure
will provide us with close, competitive racing,” said Sospiri. “I’m
very happy with our drivers, as we all work well together and I feel
sure that we will be one of the top teams in the Series.”
International Formula Master will be testing again in Vallelunga next
week, concentrating on completing long runs and further standard
developments.
