British Driver Charlie Hollings (Astuti Motorsport) has been declared the race winner of the fourth and final Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 race held at Albert Park on Sunday.
Hollings’ team appealed a decision - made during the race - to not penalise rival driver Tim Macrow after he allegedly passed Hollings under yellow flag conditions at turn one, on the fourth lap of the race.
Macrow had received no penalty during the race and took the chequered flag first ahead of Hollings and Walter Grubmuller.
After initially declaring that Macrow was clear of any wrongdoing and
awarding him the race win, a steward’s panel overturned the provisional
race results in a post-race hearing.
Macrow was penalised 1.5 seconds for overtaking under a yellow flag -
relegating him to second position and leaving Hollings as the race
winner.
This means that the pair now leaves the weekend with two wins and two second place finishes each.
At this stage no other race positions will be affected by this decision.
