CAMS Rising Star Ashley Walsh posted the quickest time of today's Formula Ford Australian Championship practice sessions at Barbagallo raceway, with a 0:59.4120 in the opening session at round two of the national series.
Walsh began his assault on round two in much the same fashion as he ended his opening round campaign at the Clipsal 500 earlier this month, fast and determined.
"Clipsal wasn't exactly the desired result but I managed to recover and win race three, and I have started this weekend in much better fashion, hopefully that can continue tomorrow," explained CAMS Rising Star Ash Walsh.
"I'm very happy with the car and there was a lot more grip out there today compared to the Clipsal circuit so hopefully we will see some very fast times again this weekend.
"We changed the ratios for the second session and that didn't really work to well so we will change it back for tomorrow and hopefully I am sitting on pole for race one," said Walsh.
Walsh's CAMS Rising Star team mate Joshua Scott was second quickest in practice with a 0:59.7177, a pleasing result for him as he looks to push harder and further up the grid for tomorrow's opening race.
"I'm wrapped the car has shown some good pace and it's looking good for the rest of the weekend," explained Scott.
"I stayed out of trouble in Adelaide and came away with some valuable points, but I am definitely looking for some better results this weekend and I feel the car setup has improved from the opening round."
Sonic Motor Racing team mates James Moffat and series leader coming into the round Tim Blanchard, weren't far off the mark posting 0:59.7208 and 0:59.7338 respectively with Blanchard confident of capitalising on his terrific opening to the year.
"With a year under my belt in the series last year, I feel I know the tracks really well and can push a little harder for results," explained Blanchard.
"The new Mygale chassis we are running this year has been great so far and it is responding well as we work through making it as quick as possible."
CAMS Rising Star Kristian Lindbom rounded at the top five from this mornings' sessions, putting all three CAMS Rising Star Spectrum 011b's in the top five times for the day.
