Glenfords Racing has come together with Paradise Kids to help with their goal of increasing the support services and programs for children and their families in times of suffering.
With both organisations based in south-east Queensland, the opportunity arose to work together on a number of upcoming projects.
"Paradise Kids is a very constructive charity providing help to children and families at times in their life when it is most needed, and we as a team are thrilled to be able to be involved with them," said Stuart DeDear today, director of the Senacon Group who represents the Glenfords Tool Centres racing programs in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship and Porsche Carrera Cup.
"With the Glenfords Racing / PCR Team, we are lucky enough to be involved in something we love, motor racing, and we hope to be able to give some excitement to the kids through our four-car Racing Team - as well as raise some much needed awareness and funds for the Team at Paradise Kids."
Paradise Kids is a Gold Coast children's charity which began in 1996 as a division of Hopewell Hospices Services Inc. Providing cost-effective support services and programs for children and their families who are suffering from grief, loss, bereavement and life-limiting illness, the organisation is headed by professional co-ordinators and qualified counsellors, and assisted by a team of dedicated volunteers.
The primary aim of Paradise Kids is to help ease and heal the heartache of children grieving the death of a family member, an illness (either their own or someone else in the family), or a separation or divorce within the family.
"Kids always need support when they are growing up, but when these terrible and life changing events happen, it is crucial that there are places like Paradise Kids there to give additional support to those unfortunate kids who are going to need it."
PCR Team Owner Paul Cruickshank echoed the sentiments of De Dear.
"The Glenfords/PCR organisation wanted to be able to provide help to young children and their families and we're delighted to be able to help Paradise Kids, they do a fantastic job and every bit of help we can give them we know will directly help those who need it the most," Paul Cruickshank said.
Paradise Kids helps children, youth and their families by providing separate grief and loss support groups for children and adults, individual counselling for children and adults, family counselling, programs for specific losses and special events.
The support programs are tailored for specific age groups - 3 to 5 year olds, 6 to 11 year olds, and teenagers from 12 to 18 years.
The support groups create a safe and supportive setting that allow children to express a full range of feelings and, as a result, live better with their loss, move on and enjoy their life. Children are also equipped with lifeskills and tools they can use throughout life.
