Reigning GT Champion Returns for Oulton Park Races PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 30 March 2007
2006 Avon Tyres British GT Champion Tim Mullen will make a one off appearance for the two races at Oulton Park this Easter.  Mullen, who is competing in the FIA GT Championship with last year’s championship winning Scuderia Ecosse team, will be racing for Hector Lester in the Christians in Motorsport teams Ferrari 430 GT3.

“I had a phone call from Hector, who, as a fellow Ulsterman, I know really well, asking if I could drive for him at Easter” said Tim Mullen. “Allan Simonsen is entered to drive with Hector this year in British GT but he will be in Australia that weekend.”

“This is a one off but I’m really looking forward to the experience,” Mullen continued.  “The GT3 Ferrari 430 will be slightly different from the GT2. It should be really quick but I don’t get to try the car until the testing on Good Friday.  After last year I’m really looking forward to getting back into British GT, even if it is just for the meeting at Oulton.”

The Ferrari 430 GT3 driven by Hector Lester and Tim Mullen is one of twenty GT3 cars due to line up on the grid for the first round of the 2007 championship on Saturday 7th April.  The Ferrari is just one of the eight manufacturers represented on the GT3 grid, with examples from Lotus, Aston Martin, Porsche, Dodge, Ascari, Lamborghini and Mosler on the grid.  A further six GTC class entries have been received with cars from Morgan, Ginetta, Porsche and Ferrari.

Qualifying for Rounds 1 & 2 of the 2007 Avon Tyres British GT Championship takes place at 13:15 on Saturday 7th April, with Round 1 due to begin at 17:20 the same day and Round 2 at 14:00 on Monday 9th April.
