Wilson To Drive Team Australia Champ Car Around Spectacular Mount Panorama Circuit In Bathurst |

WOW Racing V8 Supercar driver Max Wilson will drive a Team Australia-livered Champ Car around the spectacular Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia tomorrow.
Wilson, who has an illustrious open-wheel racing background and raced in the Champ Car World Series in 2001, will drive a Reynard Champ Car in controlled conditions around the 6.213-kilometre circuit as part of this weekend’s WPS Bathurst International Motor Festival.
The Brazilian driver has driven both Formula One, Champ Car and
sportscars around some of the world’s classic racing circuit, including
Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, Spa- Francorchamps,
Nurburgring, Laguna Seca, Silverstone and Hockenheim.
“It’s definitely going to be a great experience to drive the Team Australia Champ Car around Bathurst,” said Wilson.
“Bathurst is one of the most spectacular and demanding circuits in the
world. Every time you arrive there you drive around the circuit in a
hire car and you get a chill down your spine. To drive around it in one
of the world’s best motor racing cars is going to very special.”
Practice for the WPS 12-Hour Showroom Enduro is being conducted
throughout today with qualifying being held tomorrow afternoon. The
race will begin at 5:45am on Sunday morning.
In addition to the 41 cars entered for the WPS 12-Hour Showroom Enduro
there will also be 11 further races around the 6.21km Mount Panorama
circuit during the WPS Bathurst International Motor Festival.
A capacity field of 55 Historic Touring Cars, 43 Aussie Racing Cars –
which provided some scintillating racing at last year’s Festival, 31
Commodore Cup Cars and 26 GT Championship cars will be in action
throughout the weekend.
Along with the WPS 12-Hour Showroom Enduro and the 11 support races to
be contested throughout the weekend there will be plenty of other
entertainment including the opening round of the Freestyle Motorcross
(FMX) Nationals sponsored by Freerider MX magazine and Skin Industries.
Over 60 entries have been received for the FMX event including a lot of
riders from country New South Wales, Northern Territory, South
Australia, Tasmania, Queensland, Victoria and even Flinders Island.
There will also be a drift battle with eight drivers confirmed to be a
part of the action including current Australian champ Beau Yates, dual
Australian champion Darren Appleton. There will also be a team of three
drivers from Western Australia including the winner of round one of the
2007 Drift Australia Championship held in Perth two weeks ago.
Every person who buys a ticket to the WPS Bathurst International Motor
Festival, will receive complimentary entry to the National Motor Racing
Museum over the Festival.
