Cheshire-based FemTrack was officially launched in March and runs an exclusive club for women who love driving fast and are keen to develop their driving skills.
Using the latest spec Honda Civic Type R cars within a controlled racing circuit, FemTrack are inviting selected female journalists to see for themselves how women from all over the UK are eager to prove that fast cars are not only ‘toys for the boys’.
FemTrack are also offering the media competition opportunities for readers/listeners/ viewers to win a track day and join other like-minded women from across the UK.
The most recent winner was Diane Dickinson from South Shields, Tyne and
Wear, who won a place at Donington Park on Good Friday after entering a
competition on the FemTrack website. Also attending the day was radio
presenter Becky Woods from Silk FM.
“The instructor was such a laugh and made it such a relaxed atmosphere
to drive in,” Diane said. “The girls were so friendly, it was like I
had known them for years and it was not competitive. I am determined to
try to get some money together so I can join and enjoy a track day
again soon.”
The day begins with a briefing from a senior instructor followed by a
20-minute familiarisation period to get used to the circuit and the new
Honda Civic Type R cars.
Then follows 20-minutes in the cars involving high-speed laps with
one-to-one instruction where drivers are encouraged to find their
limits. The sessions finish with a debrief and instructors fill out a
marking sheet to indicate how each driver has performed.
Managing director of FemTrack, Julie Cuss, said: “We’re so pleased with
the response we have had since our launch and the feedback from our
track days have been fantastic. As expected all the ladies enjoy
themselves and there is always a great atmosphere with the format of
the sessions working so well.
“I am delighted to see FemTrack up and running now and my dream has
finally been realised. We are now looking forward to hosting several
track days throughout the summer.”
FemTrack not only offers track days and tuition at different circuits,
but women can join the FemTrack Club for an annual fee of £99. The Club
gives its members the chance to enjoy driving experiences both in the
UK and overseas as well as exclusive membership discounts. Age is no
barrier either, with the club’s youngest member 17-year-old Emily
Whetton and the eldest Jean Neville at 69.
Bespoke Corporate events are also available throughout the year, many
of which are also open to club members and their partners. These
include the ‘fantastic’ ice driving in Sweden experience, a trip to the
Nurburgring and the rare chance to drive a Formula 1 car in the South
of France.
The next track day will be taking place at Donington Park on Saturday 28 April with a few places still available.
