The 2007 Visma Formula Palmer Audi grid has been further boosted with the addition of Formula Jedi race-winner Russell Small to the series.
The 20-year-old, who combines his racing exploits with a motorsport engineering degree at Oxford Brookes University, had been impressive in testing at Bedford Autodrome throughout the winter. Although a shortage in funding meant he missed last weekend's opening rounds at Silverstone, Russell will join the field for the next round at Brands Hatch in just over two weeks' time.
"It'll be a great experience making my FPA debut at Brands Hatch," said
Birmingham native Small, who will further acclimatise himself to the
FPA car in another test at Bedford Autodrome later this week. "I've
raced on the GP circuit once before in Formula Jedi so I hope that I'll
be able to put that knowledge to good use."
Russell kept abreast of the FPA action at Silverstone, and while
knowing the pace at the front will be fierce, he is confident of being
able to compete. "I knew it was going to be quick at the front, but it
was even more competitive than I'd anticipated. I'm confident I can be
up there in time, but top 10s at Brands would be a good way to start."
Russell Small will be making his Formula Palmer Audi debut at Brands
Hatch from 27-29 April as part of the A1GP World Cup Of Motorsport
final. Advance tickets are available from £29 at www.brandshatch.co.uk.
