Rockingham Podiums On The Cards For Bratt PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 20 April 2007

Will Bratt is setting his sights on a brace of podium results at Rockingham International Super Sportscar Circuit this weekend having enjoyed a superb run in official Formula Renault UK testing today ahead of rounds three and four of the season.

Ending both of the day’s 45-minute sessions at the Northamptonshire venue fourth fastest, the Apotex Scorpio Motorsport star was delighted with the handling of his car and only just missed out on the top spot during the afternoon by a mere 0.091 seconds.

In one of the most closely fought test outings for quite some time, the second of today’s two sessions saw the top six drivers covered by less than a single 10th of a second with Adderbury-based Will posting a quickest time of 1m 16.505 seconds (91.69mph).

The 19-year-old’s fastest lap of the day, however, came during the morning session where he produced a best time of 1m 16.114 seconds (92.16mph) and hopes are very high a brace of podium results are well within reach this weekend.

“We were very happy with the balance and feel of the car all day today”, said Will, “I was fairly happy with our pace this morning but with just a few 100ths of a second separating us from the top of the times in the afternoon, we’ve obviously made progress between the two sessions and I think we stand a great chance of qualifying well tomorrow.

“I’m aiming for two podiums this weekend, we definitely have a quick car and I’m confident if we get things right tomorrow we’ll be able to qualify on the front two rows of the grid for both of Sunday’s races.”

Joining Will in the Apotex Scorpio camp this weekend will be experienced single-seater racer, and former Formula Renault UK ‘Graduate Cup’ rival, Richard Keen who is making his first race outing of the season. At present, Will is eighth overall in the driver standings after a difficult opening weekend at Brands Hatch three weeks ago.

Qualifying for rounds three and four of the 2007 season will take place tomorrow, Saturday, 21st April, at 09.00 and 14.15 respectively. Both races, which will be broadcast live on cable and digital satellite subscription channel Setanta Sports 2, are scheduled for Sunday, 22nd April, and will take place at 10.35 and 14.50.
