The current Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series points leader Marko Asmer (#7 Hitech Racing Dallara F307 Mercedes) controlled qualifying for Round 3 from the front, posting the fastest lap 15 minutes into the 30 minute session. The Estonian then proceeded to better his time on three more laps to finish 0.482 seconds ahead of his nearest rival Stephen Jelly (#1 Raikkonen Robertson Racing Dallara F307 Mercedes).
Greg Mansell (#50 Fortec Motorsport Dallara F307 Mercedes) was third
quickest, despite having to pit to replace a punctured tyre following a
coming together with another competitor early in the session. Mansell
was just six hundredths of a seconds adrift of a front row start for
only his 5th British F3 race.
"It was busy out there but I just slowed down for one lap and then go
for the quick one when you get a free track," said Marko Asmer. "We
knew we were quick here and I just had to do the lap. It was OK."
Despite the lack of running due to blown engine in testing and the car
being rebuilt following Oulton Park, the National Class was dominated
by Michael Meadows (#55 Master Motorsport Dallara F304 Mugen Honda) who
finished 16th overall and four places ahead of Sergio Perez (T Sport
Dallara F304 Mugen Honda).
